Dig Dug: The Untold Story by the Duo Group

It’s a couple of months old but if you haven’t seen it, it’s rather funny. There is some violence in it so depending on how your workplace looks at such things, you might want to keep that in mind.

Q&A: Backbone’s Sirlin Talks Remixing Street Fighter II

It doesn’t seem to me that lowering the barrier of the move complexity is changing the strategy too much, because really, you’re just using the right move at the right time; it’s all about timing and strategy rather than complexity of input, right?

DS: That’s right. There’s still a lot of nuances of timing. One developer I worked with during the project, at one point said, that Cammy’s Dragon Punch move — call it a thrust kick or cannon spike depending on who you ask — is too good and has too high a priority. That was the claim.

I was playing as Cammy at the time, and he was playing as Fei Long, and later we switched characters so I was playing as Fei Long, and he said that Fei Long’s Flame Kick has too much priority, it’s like his Dragon Punch.

The thing is, the priority on these moves is actually about the same; I don’t have the frame stats off the top of my head, but I have a feeling that both of them are invulnerable for a certain amount of time, and both of them become vulnerable later.

It’s really about, did you do yours a little bit before mine or a little bit after? It’s all about those nuances in timing, and we’ll deliver there just as much as ever.

Mii Wedding cake toppers & other hand made sculptures

When I first got a Wii I spent over an hour making a perfect representation of myself in Wii Mii form. Needless to say, it’s fugly as shite. But if your Mii turned out better than mine you can now get it made into a real sculpture. You just send Miisculptures $75 and a picture of Wii Yii (you) and they’ll make a 4-inch tall physical model. If you’re interested in using them as wedding cake toppers they’ll do two of them for $140. And if your wife does let you use them as a cake topper, I have two words for you: holdon tight. You’ve got a good woman. I do not. I just casually suggested I wanted a video-game (Zelda) themed wedding and you know what she did? She kicked me in the grapes and started crying. You know what theme we ended up settling on? Pretty pretty princess. God, please take me now.

You can get yours at miiscultures.

Limited Edition Bronze PSP - what?

Sony Japan just unleashed a bronze LE version of it’s new slim PSP. I bet in hindsight they’ll be glad they made this a limited edition — it’ll probably take ages for them to sell through these. Perhaps they just know they’re going to be third place, and this is their shiny self congratulatory medal.

It does come with a slew of goodies, being a “Value Pack”.

Box contents

  • PlayStation Portable System (PSPJ-20002)
  • Battery Pack
  • AC Adapter (100-240V)
  • Strap
  • Cleaning Cloth
  • Pouch
  • Memory Stick Duo (32MB)
  • D Terminal AV Cable

It can be yours for “just” $299.99.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Online Sweepstakes

Way back on July 20th, 2007, Nintendo celebrated the opening of the Pokémon Center in Tokyo by offering the Pikachu-branded yellow DS you see above. In order to procure one, you had to submit an application to one of the five other Pokémon Centers in Japan. Only a chosen few were eligible to purchase it.

Nintendo of America isn’t making it any easier; they’re holding a sweepstakes to win one of two.

Full text follows:

To celebrate the new Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series for the Nintendo DS, Pokémon fans are invited to an online sweepstakes where you will have the chance to uncover your very own treasure - a prize package filled with Pokémon video game goodies!

Between April 23 and May 21, you will be able to enter the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon online sweepstakes for a chance to win one of two Pokémon Video Game Treasure Chest prize packages, including a limited edition Pikachu Nintendo DS, a Wii console, a high-definition television and assorted Pokémon games and merchandise. The Most Legendary Flea Market Haul

I don’t think the word “boner” should ever be used in a sentence with “Cabbage Patch Kids“, but other than that, I agree.  This is an amazing discovery.

OK, now I was getting a boner. Cabbage Patch Kids Adventures in the Park for Atari 2600. A game which was never finished, and never released. I searched the Web, and found this page. Which says, basically, that the only known copy of Cabbage Patch Kids Adventures in the Park for Atari 2600 is in the hands of Ed English, the guy who wrote it. Did Ed clean house and give the junk to random Mexican Flea Market people? I think, more likely, an old Coleco office was cleaned out. I went back and bought the remaining 9 slabs of chips.
